A man who threw a cigarette lighter on the floor in Chorley has been landed with a £150 bill.
Stuart Lord, 42, of Progress Street, Chorley, was found guilty at South Ribble Magistrates’ Court after failing to pay a fixed penalty notice in a prosecution brought by Chorley Council.
The court heard that Lord was seen stood by his bike on Clifford Street, in the town centre, shaking a lighter as he tried to light a cigarette.
A member of the public offered him a lighter to light his cigarette before he threw his lighter down and went to ride away on his bike.
The incident was seen by a PCSO and magistrates were told that Lord was issued with a fixed penalty notice.
Magistrates handed Lord a £35 fine and ordered him to pay £100 costs and a £15 victim surcharge.
