Suited burglar hunted in Blackburn

A SUITED burglar is being hunted by police in Blackburn.
Officers have launched an appeal after five attempted burglaries and one successful burglary were reported in one day in the Wilpshire area of the town.
At one of the addresses the thief, who was dressed in a shirt and tie, managed to get inside and steal a digital camera before running off after being disturbed.
Police have now launched extra patrols in the East Lancashire Road, Parsonage Road, Newington Avenue and Whalley Road area after the man was spotted attempting to break in through the back door of a number of properties on Thursday.
He has been described as white, approximately 40-years-old, around 5ft 9ins and of a stocky build.
The man was wearing business clothing including a dark three quarter length overcoat, a shirt and a blue tie.
He also had a distinctive moustache and a thick head of dark hair.
Sgt Eric Halford, from Blackburn’s target team said “We are working hard to identify the offender and police patrols have been increased in the area as a preventative measure.
“I would ask that if anyone has seen a man in this area who matches this description or if they think they may know who this man is to contact police.
