Blackburn unit shortlisted for Children and Young People Now Awards

A RESOURCE centre for young people in Blackburn has been shortlisted for a national prize.

The Everybody Centre, housed inside the new Barbara Castle Way Health Centre , Simmons Street, is a finalist in the Children and Young People Now Awards 2012.

It provides a wide variety of confidential services supporting the health and wellbeing of young people aged 14-24 all under one roof.

Services include contraception and sexual health, drug and alcohol advice, emotional and mental health as well as services around education, employment and training and general help and advice.

Children and Young People Now is the only dedicated magazine for professionals working with children, young people and families.

The Everybody nomination is in The Health and Wellbeing category of the magazine’s upcoming awards.

The winners will be announced at a ceremony in London on November 29.

Doctor Chris Clayton, clinical chief officer for the Blackburn with Darwen Clinical Commissioning Group, said: “This is a fantastic achievement and recognises the quality of the work the Everybody Centre is doing.”
