BURNLEY youth team players were involved in an accident on the motorway after a match in Manchester yesterday afternoon.
The club's development squad had played in a friendly game away at Manchester City.
The coach they were in was involved in an accident on the M60 near Prestwich and Whitefield, which involved three other vehicles at around 5pm.
A spokesman for the club said that none of the players suffered any injuries in the incident.
He said: “Burnley's Development Squad, staff and driver were all uninjured after team coach was involved in traffic collision on way back from Manchester.”
The team beat Manchester City's youngsters 3-1 at Platt Lane in South Manchester in their latest behind-closed-doors friendly.
The young Clarets won thanks to goals from Howieson, Jason Gilchrist and George Porter.
Academy manager Jason Blake was with the players on the vehicle at the time.
He said: “Luckily everyone is OK. It was just damage to the coach.
“I don’t know what happened. Some of the staff were facing away from the front of the coach.
“The first thing we heard was the driver saying ‘watch out’, a big squeak and then a crash.”

Speaking on behalf of all Rovers supporters, I would like to say I'm glad none of these young footballers were injured. Banter is okay but serious things like this should be a great leveller. I am very relieved everyone was okay.

Coming from a blackburn fan who was behind the coach just after it happened, it wasn't anywhere as serious as the story makes out.
