Roadwork warning during resurfacing

MAJOR resurfacing work is due to start in Westhoughton .

The work, which is expected to take seven weeks, will see the whole of Bolton Road from Manchester Road to Market Street resurfaced.

Bolton Road will be closed each weekend for the duration of the scheme but most of the work will take place during weekdays using temporary traffic signals.

It is thought work at the junction of Market Street and Bolton Road between Manchester Road and Chew Moor Lane will be carried out on Sundays.

It will start on Monday, September 24.

Cllr Christopher Peacock, who represents Westhoughton North and Chew Moor, said: “Bolton Road is a major artery of Westhoughton and has been in need of repair for many years.

“I'm pleased that Bolton Council is investing in road repairs and Bolton Road is going to be improved.”

Cllr Sean Harkin, who also represents Westhoughton and Chew Moor, said: “Many residents of Westhoughton have complained to me about the state of the roads.

“I'm delighted to see that Bolton Council is taking action on the major roads in Westhoughton
