Injury picture issued following street attack in Bury Injury picture issued following street attack in Bury

Police have released a picture showing a man's injuries after he was violently robbed as he was yards from home.

The 29-year-old man was walking along Walmersley Road in Bury at about 11pm on Saturday 1 September 2012, when he was struck to the face causing him to fall to the floor.

The offenders then launched into an attack on the victim, punched him in the face and body, and took money from his pockets.

They then left the victim barely conscious in the street and ran off.

Detective Constable Dave Potter said: "These are offenders who did not even hesitate to use violence on their victim to steal from him, and we have launched an investigation to try and find them.

"The picture we have released shows just how savage this attack was.

"I would therefore urge anyone who may have witnessed this attack or have any information about who is responsible to call us."

Anyone with any information is asked to call police on 0161 856 8115 or call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Yet another act of senseless violence in less than a few days. What is the matter with these scumbags do they not realise the life long, life changing misery that these sorts of actions impose on not only the victim and their family but if these morons don't care about that what about their own families and what they have to go through when they are caught and sent to prison?

Walmersley Road is dangerous after dark. There are well-known thugs in the area especially Chesham Road.
They police should put a squad car there each and every night.
Mindless violence must stop, and the thugs caught by the police.

Well we all know about mindless violence dont we? Well my family does and yes as stated above, these events are life changing for everyone involved, not just the victim but for the immediate family. What is needed here is tougher policing and much tougher action from the judicial system. Lets see the thugs, if caught and convicted taken off our streets for a long time, not just a few months as in the case of the horrific assault on my son when the thugs concerned got sentences of 14 and 17 months but spent only 3 to 4 months off the street. My son spent 7 months in hospital. That is not punishment or justice.

Absolutely disgusting. It should be an eye for an eye as these ridiculous sentence's these thugs are handed are hardly enough to put them off doing it again. Yes R'Marcus Walmersley is not a nice place after dark, it isn't during the day too much suspicious activity going on.
