Belmont Road to re-open soon

Belmont Road is likely to reopen on Saturday afternoon.

The road is closed at the junction with Sweetloves Lane due to a water burst which United Utilities are working to fix.

Due to the size of the repair and the damage to the highway, the road needs to remain closed and diversions in place for work to take place safely.

Traffic is being diverted away from the junction of Blackburn Road and Crompton Way, and up to Scout Road.

The road will only open on Saturday if all the repair work is complete and the road is safe.

It has been only going as far as the Pineapple at TfGM request!

Heard earlier this afternoon that contractors have ruptured a gas main! Don't think it will be open on Saturday!

I would have thought they would have diverted it around Oldhams Estate and then back on to Belmont Road - a bit like route 528 (version 2) used to use. So waiting at Pineapple for about 20 minutes before the return journey??? blimey!
