Man injured in mystery blast in Nelson

FIREFIGHTERS have begun an inquiry after a man was hurt in a minor ‘explosion’ behind a house in Nelson on Friday night.
Crews from Nelson station were alerted after a man suffered burns and a fire was extinguished in a rear yard at the property in Princess Street.
Paramedics treated the man, who has not been named, at the scene and he was taken to the Royal Blackburn Hospital for further assessment.
Firefighters in Nelson are still unsure what caused the blast, which caused some damage to the rear yard and occurred around 7.40pm.
