A 17-year-old has been charged with attempted rape of a 10-year-old boy who was resident in the same local authority care home.
The incident is alleged to have taken place in the garden of the home in Blackburn shortly after the boys had returned from a supervised visit to the swimming baths.
The teenager is charged with attempted rape and indecent assault.
The case was originally listed at Blackburn Magistrates’ Court but was then transferred to Preston magistrates so it could be put before District Judge Peter Ward.
The teenager, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was bailed on condition he lives at a home in Manchester, does not have any contact with any person under the age of 18 unless in the presence of a care or social worker and must not leave the home except with a member of staff.
