Energy plea by Darwen smart meter company boss

DARWEN smart metering company Bglobal is urging the Government to do more to get communities to generate and use low cost renewable energy.

Mark Coyle, corporate development director at Utiligroup, part of Bglobal, was part of a high-profile panel discussion, which saw industry leaders discuss community energy.

The event explored the opportunities for individuals and communities to cultivate a ‘community energy market’ in the UK.

Mr Coyle said: “Organisations from the public and private sectors will increasingly need to work together, with support from central Government, to deliver sustainable electricity and heating directly into and in partnership with local communities to reduce their dependency on large scale national electricity generation and imported gas.

"This will enable them to deliver long term energy savings in combination with energy efficiency and take more control of usage.”
