FLAVOURS from around the world will spice up Bolton’s biggest ever food and drink festival.

With 80 traders on Victoria Square, Oxford Street and Deansgate, the seventh annual festival has something to satisfy all appetites.

The popular event, which takes place from August 24 to 27, will feature some firm festival favourites and a host of new attractions in a bid to attract the crowds.

For the first time, the festival will include a designated al fresco dining area — Gourmet Kitchen — featuring a variety of traders selling high-end international street food.

It will be at the south side of Victoria Square, near Newport Street, and will include: l Harvey Nichols’ Gastronomique van selling French cuisine l Ginger’s Comfort Emporium selling unique flavoured ice cream l Jerk Junction selling traditional Jamaican food l Bolton’s Spice Valley selling Indian dishes l Macaroon by Alison Seagrave selling cakes l The Hungry Gecko, Asian street food by Masterchef 2011 finalist Jackie Kearne Claire Kelsey of Ginger’s Comfort Emporium said: “I’m really looking forward to meeting the Bolton food lovers. “For the Bolton Food and Drink Festival, my menu will include salted caramel and peanut butter ice cream, plus my olive oil flavoured ice cream.”

Hungry Gecko boss Jackie Kearney will serve a range of vegetarian dishes, plus desserts such as rhubarb samosas and watermelon ice pops. She said: “I’m really excited to be taking part in the Bolton Food and Drink Festival.”

“My menu includes dishes inspired by street food from India, Thailand, Indonesia and Malaysia.”

As well as The Gourmet Kitchen area, there will be a second street food court on Deansgate featuring traditional Indian, Hungarian, Polish and Italian cuisine.
