Proposals for Darwen sheltered homes

TWIN Valley Homes’ plans to transform the former Darwen health centre site, in Union Street, into sheltered housing will be discussed by Blackburn with Darwen Council planning committee on Thursday, June 21.
Under the social housing organisation’s proposal, the facility would be made up of 50 units over five floors.
Planning consent was granted for a four-storey block, containing 56 residential apartments in 2006, but the developer on the previous project went out of business.
Twin Valley Homes began working on the site in January, shortly after acquiring it, and no objections have been submitted over the plans.
