Teenager found dead at Darwen home

A 13-year-old boy has been found dead in bed at a home in Darwen.

Police said the youngster, who has not been named, was discovered at an address in Tockholes Road at 12.30pm yesterday.

Det Insp Neil Ashton said: “The cause of this sudden death has not yet been confirmed but it is not being treated as suspicious.

"Police are at this stage exploring the possibility that he suffocated.

"The coroner has been informed and a post mortem examination will take place later this week."

He said police officers are providing support to family and friends.
