A BLIND fellrunner died during a race after suffering a suspected heart attack at the weekend.
Mike Ogle, 62, had been taking part in the Burnsall Feast Sports race in Yorkshire when he collapsed on Saturday.
Paramedics from the Yorkshire Air Ambulance attended the incident near Skipton and transferred Mr Ogle to a waiting road ambulance at around 5pm.
The Chorley Harriers Club member collapsed had earlier completed a 10 mile road race before embarking on the fell race.
He was pronounced dead later the same day.
A spokesperson for the Chorley Harriers Club said: "He died doing what he inspired so many other to do and that was running.
"Many of us will have stories about Mike. Let us all reflect on the good times and the inspiration he was to so many people."
A post-mortem examination will be carried out this week.
Mike leaves wife Jane. Funeral details are still to be arranged.
