TICKETS for former Libertines and Babyshambles frontman Pete Doherty’s show in Blackburn on August 25 have sold out.

The former Libertines and Babyshambles singer is to play the King George’s Hall gig as a warm-up for his shows at the prestigious V Festivals over the August Bank Holiday weekend.

Doherty, who has hit the headlines for various drug offences, was recently released from prison after serving a sentence for possession of crack cocaine.

In spite of his troubled reputation Doherty is acknowledged as one of the leading songwriters of his generation and has a cult following.

The show is being staged by newly-formed 250plus Promotions, made up of the owners of Blackburn’s Live Lounge and a local promoter – Paul McGurty, Julian Clayton and Pete Eastwood.

Paul said: "This is a great booking, not only for us as a new promotion venture but for King George's Hall and Blackburn as a whole.

“We want Blackburn back on the musical map making it a standard choice for the big bands to want to come and play.”
