GIG Pete Doherty
TICKETS for former Libertines and Babyshambles frontman Pete Doherty’s show in Blackburn on August 25 have sold out.
The former Libertines and Babyshambles singer is to play the King George’s Hall gig as a warm-up for his shows at the prestigious V Festivals over the August Bank Holiday weekend.
Doherty, who has hit the headlines for various drug offences, was recently released from prison after serving a sentence for possession of crack cocaine.
In spite of his troubled reputation Doherty is acknowledged as one of the leading songwriters of his generation and has a cult following.
The show is being staged by newly-formed 250plus Promotions, made up of the owners of Blackburn’s Live Lounge and a local promoter – Paul McGurty, Julian Clayton and Pete Eastwood.
Paul said: "This is a great booking, not only for us as a new promotion venture but for King George's Hall and Blackburn as a whole.
“We want Blackburn back on the musical map making it a standard choice for the big bands to want to come and play.”
* Pete Doherty is at Blackburn’s King George’s Hall on Thursday, August 25. Tickets sold out.

My dogs bo***cks have more talent than him! Won't be too long before he takes the same route as Miss Winehouse. He's had enough chances!
How is booking this Drug taking Violent idiot going to put Blackburn on the map ? Delusional springs to mind........I wont be rushing to buy a ticket to help fund his 'addictive social life'...he's a muppet that shouldnt be given the time of day let alone the usage of King Georges Hall...one of the many dirty alleyways is right up his street !!!!!!

All of the above and many more besides habitually used drugs for long periods of their careers, I would put money that all of you who are slaggin Docherty off Have at least one of the above names in your record collections.
Unless your the sort of pudding who likes music like ABBA (and I bet they where on crack to produce that rubbish)
If you dont like the guys music then fine but dont be so narrow minded as to have a go at the bloke just because he takes drugs.
Im off to listen to "up the bracket" and order my ticket online.
Gnight saddos

Your comment was going great until the part about Abba producing rubbish. With their record sales being somewhere between 350-400 million records you obviously dont know as much about music as you think you do.

It wasn't an argument, and your very touchy.

You cannot surely put Doherty in the same bracket as these greats, drug fuelled or otherwise. Doherty by the facts of his continued drug abuse and habitual flaunting of the law demonstrate that he has no respect for anything, so why should anyone show him any respect least of all for his innane attempts at music. The last headline gig he did was only two months ago courtesy of H.M.P!

Well said, HelmshoreBoy. Doherty might be a good drug user but he ain't in the same class as any of those as a musician.

You are all narrow minded idiots who believe everything you read in the newspapers. You'd probably believe it if the LET announced that the original beatles line up would be the supporting act.
By the way it's the Leeds and Reading festivals this weekend. Not V. That was last week.
