A MAN had part of his ear bitten off during a fight on a street in Rawtenstall.
The victim required a number of stitches at hospital to reattach the lobe of the ear after the incident at Rawtenstall bus station.
The two men, who had both been drinking in the Queens Arms pub earlier in the evening, had a heated disagreement which resulted in the fight.
The fight happened at 2.45am on Sunday but police have only now released details.
Detective Constable Harvinder Uppal, from Rossendale CID, said: “An investigation is underway to establish the circumstances around this incident.
“First of all I would appeal to anyone who was walking down Bacup Road and witnessed the incident at the bus shelter.
“Secondly, I am keen to hear from any taxi drivers who were perhaps in the area or passing by.
“We need to establish exactly what happened and if anyone has any information then I would ask them to call the police.”
Anyone with information is asked to call Rossendale CID on 01282 425001 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
