RESIDENTS in Blackrod made it on to TV when Granada Reports visited the village.

Presenter Paul Crone is doing a 200-mile walk across the region from the Granada Reports studio and stopping at various locations along the way.

He is walking 20 miles every day to raise money for the Up The Amazon appeal, and will broadcast live from a different location every day.

Blackrod was his first port of call.

The project aims to raise funds to deliver important medical supplies to people in the Amazon rainforest.

John Timms, chairman of the Blackrod Village Association, said: "It was great that Blackrod was chosen, and were honoured that it was the first stop.

"The people who have been involved raising money for the project have worked very hard."

Last week, sportsmen at Blackrod Cricket Club held a 24-hour batathon and raised £700 for the appeal.
