A RARE Blackburn one pound note, produced more than 100 years ago when the town printed its own money has sold at auction for £750.
The note, printed at the old Blackburn Bank in the 19th century had been expected to sell for between £350 and £450.
In the end it was snapped up by a mystery bidder for £750.
The note is emblazoned with the words 'Blackburn Bank' and features an engraving of Britannia and maidens.
It was sold at Spink in Bloomsbury, London.
