A 21-YEAR-OLD kickboxer was kicking himself after a coincidence landed him in court on a drugs offence.
Blackburn magistrates heard Kevin James Harrington drove onto a pub car park where a police officer was parked.
The officer was the same one who had dealt with him for possessing methodrone on a previous occasion.
And he searched Harrington’s car because he seemed to behave suspiciously. He again found a small quantity of the drug.
Harrington, of Peel Park Close, Accrington, pleaded guilty to possessing mephedrone. He was fined £180 with £100 costs.
Debbie Morgan, defending, said Harrington’s only previous conviction had been in May for possessing mephedrone.
“He bought that before it was classified as illegal but had forgotten it was in his car until the police officer found it,” said Miss Morgan.
She said Harrington had suffered an injury towards the end of last year which prevented him competing as a kickboxer or training, but he is now back in action.
