ROSSENDALE and Darwen MP Jake Berry has been given a new role tackling the country’s housing problems.

He has been confirmed as the new Parliamentary Private Secretary to Grant Shapps, Minister of State for Housing and Local Government.

Mr Berry’s background as a solicitor, specialising in housing law, has given him an understanding of the housing issues facing the UK.

He said: “I am delighted to confirm my new role and I look forward to working closely with Grant to solve the UK’s housing problems.

“House building under Labour was at its lowest point since 1924 and we have been left with a huge shortage of affordable housing.

During the General Election it became clear that a lack of affordable housing is a huge issue in Darwen.

“This role will help me champion the cause of every family in Darwen who dream of living in their own home.”
