WESTHOUGHTON'S Brian Holbert is one of six golfers who have qualified for an Audi quattro Cup UK Regional Final golf tournament a prestigious worldwide event for amateur golfers.
He won through after beating off the challenge of almost 60 invited amateur golfers who contested the 18-hole, Lancaster Audi (Manchester) sponsored competition at the Swinton Park course.
Holbert finished second on 38pts after a card play-off, one point behind the winner.
He now goes through to a regional final at the Carden Park Golf Club, near Chester, next Wednesday.
The six lowest scoring players progress as three "pairs" to one of five regional final events with the three best scoring "pairs" from each regional final heading for the Audi quattro Cup UK Final at the world-renowned Gleneagles, in Scotland in September.
Ultimately two British "pairs" will contest the Audi quattro Cup World Final staged at The Grove GC in Hertfordshire in October.
