MORE than 30 people made the Big Walk Home on Sunday from Manchester to Ramsbottom to raise money for Bury Hospice.
The group set off at 10am from Urbis, in Manchester city centre, and reached the finishing point of the Shoulder of Mutton pub, Helmshore Road, Holcombe by 5pm.
This year, for the first time since Mike Kelly, of Shuttleworth, started completing the walk with family and friends three years ago, the walk was open to members of the public.
Mr Kelly, aged 44, said: “This year we made it a bigger event, and about 35 people showed up, with a few more joining in mid-way through at Burrs in Bury.”
Mr Kelly hopes that more people will join in with the 16-mile walk in future.
“We’ve raised a few hundred pounds for the hospice so far this year and hopefully the more popular the walk becomes, the more money we can raise,” he added.
