DEMOLITION work in Gannow Lane, Burnley, to make way for homes and industry, is nearing completion.
Work to clear the former Cloverbrook site, opposite car dealership Motorpoint, has seen the Peel Mill building brought down.
The application was for 41 family houses and 3,000 sq metres of industrial space, over three buildings.
When the application was submitted, a spokesman for the developers said: “Alth-ough not designed in detail at this stage, it is envisaged that the residential develop-ment will take from its surrounding a palette of traditional materials, stone walling, slate roofs.
“And, combined with more contemporary finish-es, it will provide good quality housing that not only complements the surroundings but also provides a modern visual appearance.
“Small front gardens to all of the houses offer the opportunity to designate private and public spaces and to soften the street boundaries with larger rear gardens providing separate outdoor spaces.”
Outline planning permis-sion for the scheme was granted in July 2009, but before any building work can take place on the site, another planning permis-sion confirming the design specifics must be submitted and approved.
A spokesman for the council said: “The planning permission was received two years ago and granted approval by the develop-ment control committee on July 9, 2009.
“No further application regarding the site has been submitted.”
Part of the Cloverbrook site was brought by Motorpoint at the start of last year for an expansion to the car dealership, which opened last July.
