A BRIERFIELD man has appeared in court accused of bringing a cache of weapons into Britain on board a jet.
Ghulam Jalani, 44, was arrested at Manchester Airport after customs officers allegedly found a Tazer gun, six knuckle dusters and five flick knives in a suitcase.
Jalani had caught a flight to the UK from Bangkok in Thailand and had just picked up his luggage in the baggage pick-up point when he was held in at the customs point of Terminal 2 Arrivals.
Jalani, 44, of Commercial Street, yesterday faced Trafford magistrates accused of possessing offensive weapons and being in possession of a bladed article.
He made no plea and the JPs asked that the case go to crown court. He was remanded on conditional bail until September 7 for a committal hearing.
Jalani's arrest came days before the end of a knife amnesty.
