AN area of Nelson is set for a brighter future when a blitz against fly tipping and litter takes place this weekend.
The council's housing market renewal and neighbourhood management teams as well as ward councillors have help organise a community clean up around Whitefield.
A number of skips will be placed around the area and residents will be able to borrow brooms.
Ward councillor, Coun Nadeem Ahmed, pictured third from left with residents preparing for the clean up, said:"Whitefield has a big problem with people dumping rubbish in its streets, so we have organised this clean up to try and combat it.
"Everyone needs to do their bit to create some pride in the area, so look out for the skips which will be all around Whitefield."
Clean ups take place from 10am on Saturday and Sunday. Equipment will be available from 45-47 Hargreaves Street. For more information, contact Paul Crowther on 01282 661363.
