A 21-YEAR-OLD warehouse worker suffered serious head injuries this morning after a prank involving a colleague's car went badly wrong.

Police said Marcus Palmer had been sat on the bonnet of his friend and colleague Riaz Ellison’s Toyota Corolla following a shift at Phoenix Healthcare Distribution Ltd, in Farrington Place, Burnley, at around 3.40am, when the incident happened.

But as the pair were chatting, Mr Ellison decided to slowly drive the car off the premises as a prank.

Mr Palmer rolled off the bonnet as the car drove along Farrington Place and smashed his head on the ground.

He was taken to Royal Blackburn Hospital where he underwent X-rays and a CT scan for serious head injuries.

Warehouse manager Shahid Mahmood today said Mr Palmer was recovering at home after being discharged from hospital.

He said the company would now investigate the incident.

As part of the probe they will examine CCTV footage of the incident.

Police said they were due to question Mr Palmer as part of their investigation.
