Accrington forced marriage row pair locked up

TWO of three men involved in a confrontation with police and a social worker after a schoolgirl complained she might be being lined up for a forced marriage are behind bars.

Burnley Crown Court heard police were abused and ended up calling for back-up at a house in Accrington.

The social worker, who was threatened with death and racially insulted, said it was the worst incident she had ever had to suffer in her job.

Khalid Hussain, 24, of Ormerod Street, Accrington and Majid Hussain, 23, of Great Townley Street, Preston, admitted using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour.

Mohammed Liaqat, 19, also of Ormerod Street, Accrington, pleaded guilty to causing racially aggravated fear of violence.

Khalid Hussain, who was sent to jail for two years in April for another offence, was said by Judge Andrew Woolman to be ‘proving a trouble to the community’.

He and Liaqat were given four months in custody each.

Majid Hussain got four months in prison, suspended for two years with 120 hours’ unpaid work.

Sergey Prokofiev, prosecuting, said last August the girl was removed from her home and two police officers and the social worker went to speak to her relations.

Initial discussions seemed quite amicable but Liaqat claimed the girl was being held against her will and demanded she be returned to her family home.

Majid Hussain was vociferous in stating she had been in contact with her relations.

Mr Prokofiev said Hussain and Liaqat went towards the officers shouting abuse and they and the social worker got up to leave.

Khalid Hussain ran into the room with a mobile phone, insisting the officers see what was on the phone and was rude and aggressive.

The prosecutor said Liaqat approached the social worker’s vehicle, and said to her: ‘I am going to kill you.' He then made a cut throat motion.

Majid Hussain said the family was fed up because officers were not listening to them when they claimed the girl had been in touch.

social workers get constant grief for being part of let down in services yet times like this, when they are threatened, very little praise is given.

He should do the full 2 years plus the new 4 months without parole!

Then deport him...without appeal!

Forced marriages are wrong but arranged marriages are a legitimate part of Asian culture.This may be a distinction without a practical difference. I would never condone violence and these people got their just deserts.
But how did the social worker get wind of this? One of those houses has a " Premiership Clarets" sticker in the front bedroom window but im sure there is no connection.

Social worker’s have one of the toughest jobs out there. When they are helping and making a huge difference to people’s lives (as they do on a daily basis) it goes largely unnoticed and nobody cares either way about what they do.
.
Different story when something goes wrong though... When that happens, everyone is a social work expert and goes straight for the fire and pitch forks.

It is high time the evil of islam was exposed for the brutal woman hating regime it is, it is run and controlled by biggotted old men who seem only interested in leaching money from the muslim community, they claim to be moraly superior to us mere infidelles, stories like this just show how evil and corrupt this culture is. Iranian muslims were going to stone to death a woman accused of having an affair, These are barbarians and control freaks. this girl knew she would have been forced to marry some one she has never met and then his family would be entitled to come over here.
I hope this girl can be kept safe but i am sure she will end up staying with relatives in a muslim country, It is fear that keeps muslim women under control. I wonder if the phrase family honour will be used???

These are very nasty individuals indeed who deserve to be locked up as they, like a lot of others, have no respect for the (police) uniform as we older one were brought up to have.
However, this seems to be only half a story as it is lacking in certain details. We are to assume the girl is from a Muslim family of Asian origin and that it is not the other usual abuse of 'groomed' schoolgirls. Either way, they have had a lucky escape.
Chislancs, I agree the followers of Islam do like to be considered to be morally superior to the rest of us but that is hypocritical. For example, they claim to hate homosexuality (punishable by death in some Islamic countries) yet, if you Google `Bacha bazi' you will see how the sexual abuse (and killing) of young boys by Muslims is common.
Western soldiers in Afghanistan have witnessed local police doing this and have been silenced. They must wonder what they are fighting there for.

I am afraid the islamic faith has had its name tarnished in the eyes of a tolerant public. It is up to the modern younger muslims to sort out the old fools and the preachers of hatred. it is strikingly akin to the demise of the catholic religion. I think islam has been at a crossroads for some time, maybe they might just pick the right way forward.

All religions, whatever faith are nonsensical in my opinion. They are all just twisted versions of each other, and as time has proved will just vanish as other faiths before them have. A lot of the troubles in the world today can be directly linked to religion, and the world would be a better and safer place if religion didnt exist. All anyone would need to do is watch a programme by Prof. Stephen Hawking or Prof. Brian Cox and realise that the notion of one supreme being who governs our world is absolutley ludicrous. Imagine no religion too....John Lennon was a genius!!!

Arranged marriages are not part of islam, it ia a cultural thing, and Islam being a brutal woman hating regime??? do your research, they have just as much rights and respect as men, so all those numb people who believe what they hear/see on news etc are common joeys, theyre just haters, racists, narrow minded, cooped up in their own miserable lives, you should look into it, not just make up your own talk and own interpretations about islam, its like saying that all priests are paedophiles? that it stated in the bible that you should touch young boys inapropriately, its not fair is it really? if you have any questions, or are puzzled by anything about Islam, like i said, do your research, its the fastest growing religion for a reason, dont just look at the the odd couple extremists that ruin the whole image for Islam, Theyre not what you call proper practicing muslims. Look at the proper ones, then comment. Islam is a religion with freedom and choice, what you hear isnt always true, the media will try their best to cause problems in society and make it hard for muslims, it makes news for them.

Before I start I would like to say I'm not condoning the behaviour of these idiots but I would like everybody to take some time out to read this post and THINK about what I'm saying. Thank you :-)

I think all the Anti-Muslim brigade on here need to realise that the majority of the news stories that feature a Muslim that committed the crime aren't practising their religion. Also there is a general lack of respect & discipline prevalent all around the UK and other countries nowadays.
.
This story is an ideal example. Clearly the men were very angry and foolishly decided to vent their anger on the innocent social worker and decided to verbally abuse Police officers. That respect & discipline would have been very handy here! Our religion teaches us to RESPECT other religions & cultures FACT. Also forced marriages don't have anything to do with Islam, they are affiliated with a backward culture. I'm sure if you all did some research you would find many more cases that aren't linked to Islam. As usual though the negativity towards Islam from the media continues.

There is a new generation of strange so called "Muslim" youth on the rise who consume drugs, consume alcohol and then choose to commit these crimes. If these so called "Muslims" were to follow their religion in the first place they wouldn't cause trouble.
.
The point I am trying to get across to you today is please think before you start rambling on and do some research. Yes there are many stories out there but as I mentioned earlier had these people been properly following the religion I doubt they would have landed themselves in trouble. The actions of some of these silly individuals manage to tarnish the reputation of Millions out there.
.
We will all continue to hear about these stories and feel plenty of anger and hatred towards people but remember we certainly aren't all the same. Things are only going to get worse in the coming future. If only some respect, manners and discipline was reintroduced maybe we wouldn't have to waste so much of our tax payers money on jailing antisocial morons. Rant over thanks for listening once again ;)
