A MAN who subjected someone to two separate violent attacks, almost a year apart, has been jailed.

Clint Houlahan’s victim needed surgery following both incidents.

The second resulted in joiner Liam Wilson’s jaw being fractured in two places.

An operation was needed to insert plates and screws in his face.

Houlahan, 23, of Griffin Close, Accrington was sentenced to eight months prison by a judge.

He had pleaded guilty to an assault occasioning actual bodily harm and also to inflicting grievous bodily harm.

The first incident arose at a party in September 2008.

Mark Lamberty, prosecuting at Preston Crown Court, said words were ex-changed between the two men.

Mr Wilson, 28, was stood at the doorway and as he left, Houlahan smacked him on the mouth without warning, causing him a dental problem.

He needed an operation to extract a left upper molar.

Mr Wilson did not make any complaint about that, but let things lie.

The two men then met by chance in the Black Dog pub, Oswaldtwistle, in August last year.

The defendant was alleged to have run at him and pushed him over, but another witness thought Mr Wilson stumbled over.

He went to the floor and Houlahan kicked him once to the left side of the jaw, a hard kick which caused a fracture.

Three plates and screws needed to be inserted under general anaesthetic.

Mr Wilson was said to have been off work for six weeks.

Mr Adrian Williams, defending, said Houlahan was genuinely remorseful for both incidents.
