FILM director Danny Boyle is backing a fundraising appeal set up in memory of a teenager who died after suffering an epileptic fit.
Danny, a former Thornleigh Salesian College pupil, has been speaking to the parents of Samantha Ahearn and vowed to help them with their campaign.
Samantha died in her mother’s arms at their home in Dumers Close, Radcliffe, on July 16 last year, aged 19.
Since her death, Samantha’s mum and stepdad, Linda and Billy McGoff, have launched the Sam Ahearn Appeal to spread awareness of sudden unexpected death in epilepsy and raise funds for Epilepsy Bereaved. Their campaign received a huge boost last week when Mr Boyle offered his support to the family.
The family is holding a pyjama-themed fundraising event at Radcliffe Civic Suite on Saturday. Tickets £5, from 07873 208 463, or email LindaMcGoff@btinternet.com
