A HOTEL celebrated the opening of its new £1.25million extension — by joining the world’s largest chain.

The Mytton Fold hotel in Langho now boasts 15 extra bedrooms and is also part of the Best Western group of 4,000 hotels worldwide.

Bosses at the award-winning hotel believe being part of the world-famous chain will bring more business customers in.

But they stressed that Mytton Fold would remain independently-owned and run, an approach that has seen it scoop two ‘tourism Oscars’ in as many years.

Staff celebrated the new extension and tie-up by inviting business chiefs from across East Lancashire to an open day, which was also attended by Ribble Valley MP Nigel Evans.

Lynette Moorhouse, from Mytton Fold, said: “We had a fantastic response, with people from businesses and the general public coming from right across the region.

“Joining the Best Western brand is all about the commercial potential it offers.

“We will still be completely independent but it means we will be listed by Best Western and that will mean we get more calls and more customers.

“We are known for being family-owned and run, and we don’t want to lose that selling point.”

Guests at Mytton Fold will now be able to enjoy 43 rooms after 15 were added in the extension, along with a refurbished bar and dining areas.

The improved facilities helped the hotel scoop a Lancashire and Blackpool Tourism Award this year for being accessible to disabled guests.

It followed a gong last year after being crowned small hotel of the year.
