The Derby Arms and lancashirewalks.com have devised a series of self-guided walks which will allow walkers to explore the local countryside at their own leisure.

“We are ideally situated in the midst of some beautiful countryside,” said William Walne, proprietor of the Derby Arms. “Following the interest in our guided walks it seems a natural extension to publish a set of walks from the inn. We know many of our customers would like to combine a meal with a walk.”

Five self-guided walks are now available at the Derby Arms, as well as online at lancashirewalks.com.

John Griffiths co-founder of the website said: “We were lucky to obtain the services of David Johnstone, secretary of the Norwest Fellwalking club, to help us devise the routes. David’s experience in mapping routes has ensured we have created a series of excellent walks from the Derby Arms.”

David Johnson said: “Country pubs make ideal bases for exploring the nearby countryside. They have good car parking, facilities and tasty food. It has been a real pleasure checking over routes for the Derby Arms.”
