ADULTS who returned to education were comm-ended for their outstand-ing work.
Nelson and Colne College held its annual adult awards evening on Wednesday where 130 students and their families attended to celebrate this year’s successes.
Held in Nelson’s ACE Centre students and guests were also treated to a champagne reception.
Guests were welcomed by assistant principal Judith Watson who praised the students’ achievements.
She said: “Colleges are about working with people of all ages and all backgrounds, many of whom have exceptional stories. There is nothing more inspiring than the celebratory events held by the college.”
Guest speaker for the evening was Martyn Walker, head of department post compulsory education and training at the University of Huddersfield and Nelson and Colne College liaison tutor.
He said: “Although at times you must have wondered if the additional education trials you have taken as a student were worth it – they are.”
