MORE than 200 people packed the Yousaf family’s mosque as prayers were said for the murdered husband, wife and daughter.
The event, at Brunswick Street Mosque, Nelson, yesterday was arranged by Mohammed Iqbal, a close friend of Mohammed Yousaf.
Pendle MP Andrew Stephenson told worshippers he had been given assurances that the members of the Yousaf family who had flown to Pakistan after the triple murders were being given police protection.
Mosque secretary Mr Iqbal, who grew up with Mr Yousaf in Jaurah village, in the Gujrat district of Pakistan, said: “From the children, to the women, to the menfolk, everybody was shocked.
“It is a tragedy and, particularly, we are sorry for the mother, and father, and daughter that passed away because they went for a happy occasion and this tragedy happened. This is a tragedy on an unimaginable scale.
“They were very close to me and we are all shocked and appalled about what has happened.”
