EXTENSION plans at a pub in Clayton-Le-Moors look set to be dashed by officials at Hyndburn Council.

Bosses at the Fort Arms Hotel, Lower Barnes Street, had hoped to increase the size of the pub by converting an attached barn and building a two-storey extension to create function rooms.

Neighbours in the street have sent objections to the council and there are also worries over a lack of car parking at the site.

Currently the barn is unused but local residents have protested that there are enough facilities for functions in the area because of the nearby Park View Working Men's Club.

There are also concerns that the development would lead to an increase in on-street parking in surrounding streets.

The plans that have been submitted to the council do include a provision for six extra spaces but highways officials have said that there should be at least 16.

The planning application is set to be debated by members of Hyndburn's planning committee on Wednesday.
