A man whose favourite drink was strong lager and vodka in the same glass died as a result of alcohol-related fatty liver, an inquest was told.
An inquest heard that Robert Love, who was known as Rab, was found dead in his bed at the Police Street hostel in Darwen.
Carl Pearson, who had the next room at the hostel, told the inquest he had been woken on March 6 by the sound of Mr Love breathing heavily. He went and got a key and found Mr Love lying on his back moaning.
"I asked him if he wanted an ambulance but he said no'," said Mr Pearson who went back to his room the following day with a member of staff and found him dead in bed.
"He was a good man but he did have an alcohol problem," said Mr Pearson. "His favourite drink was vodka and lager mixed together."
The medical cause of death was given as fatty liver and deputy coroner Carolyn Singleton recorded a verdict of natural causes.
