BURNLEY Community Safety Partnership is hoping to make a clean sweep in the Duke Bar area and local residents are being urged to lend a hand.
Following concerns from the local community and as part of Operation Hot Spot, the partnership is planning to hold a series of clean-ups but volunteers are needed.
The first clean-up was held yesterday and the second one will take place from 9am to 1pm on Saturday.
Volunteers should meet at the Community Alliance Gardens, Swinless Street.
Anyone who can't help but who wants to get rid of their rubbish responsibly will be able to take advantage of free "community skips" which will be placed at the top of Swineless Street, Community Alliance car park and the car park at the top end of Pheasantford Street on Saturday.
Neighbourhood area worker Mandy Haney will be co-ordinating the activity.
She said: "We know that people are fed up with seeing litter and rubbish dumped in the street and we are taking action what we need now is people to lend a hand.
"I'm happy to give further information to anyone who may be interested in helping so if you've got an hour or so to spare and a desire to make a difference to the local community, please give me a call."
