After a career spanning three decades, Lancashire's top cop has been honoured in this year's Queen's Birthday Honours.
Acting chief constable, Steve Finnigan, has been awarded the Queen's Police Medal.
Mr Finnigan, who lives in Southport, said: "Obviously I'm delighted but I am conscious, however, that this award is recognition of much more than my own personal contributions to policing.
"It is testament, I believe, to the wonderful advice, support and commitment I have received from many colleagues in the police service, and other partner agencies, over those years."
Mr Finnigan joined the force five-and-a-half years ago as a chief officer.
His colleague at Lancashire Constabulary, office manager Margaret Douglas received the MBE for services to the police.
Mrs Douglas who joined the force in 1980, said: "I'm extremely fortunate because I love my job, the constabulary is a brilliant organisation to work for and over the years I have had so many opportunities."
