PLANS to introduce a booze ban in Barnoldswick will be discussed tonight.
Liberal Democrat councillors are proposing to bar drinking alcohol in public places to stop youths hanging around getting drunk and causing anti-social behaviour.
Councillors say they want to eradicate the problem and not just move it to elsewhere in the area.
Following the announcement councillors held an open day in Barnoldswick town centre to gauge the reaction of residents.
The plans, backed by the police, will be discussed at a meeting of the West Craven committee, at Mount Zion Baptist Church, Earby, starting at 7pm.
If approved specific areas will be designated alcohol free and the ban will come into force in the next few weeks.
