CHILDREN from an Accrington nursery have been creating works of art to decorate their building.

Professional artists from Lancashire arts group Arteach have been working with the youngsters, aged from 17 months to four, from Fairfield Children's Centre.

They have helped them to make art works using paint, textiles and clay inspired by nursery rhymes, insects, fishes and frogs.

The children's centre is currently being extended, but once the building work is complete the children's work will be put on display there.

Ceramicist Julie Miles, from Barrowford, started the arts programme with her clay workshop, based on the hungry caterpillar.

The children have also worked with sculptor Marjan Wouda, from Darwen, and textile artist Jackie Smith, also from Barrowford.

Family support co-ordinator Lin Dean said: "We have all had a wonderful time working with the artists from Arteach.

"Children from as young as 17 months have had the opportunity to produce some beautiful artwork"
