Century star Nisar lands cup knockout

ADIL Nisar virtually beat Kearsley single-handedly as he dominated the match with both bat and ball.

The Tonge professional hit his second century of the weekend with a magnificent 163 that contained 19 fours and six sixes out of a total of 254-3.

Nisar then took the ball and claimed 4-84, Simon Anderton taking 3-11 and Adam Street 3-34 as Kearsley were dismissed for 166 in an 88-run defeat.

The major shock, however, came from Heaton who floored Hamer Cup holders Farnworth.

And they did it in style, coasting to a seven wicket win after bowling out the home side for 156.

Only pro Brendan Parchment 45 and Chris Barrow 22 were able to get the better of the Heaton bowlers, pro Yogesh Galwalkar taking 4-51.

Even so, Heaton still had to get the better of the Farnworth bowling attack but Danny Guest 52 and John West 45 took total control and swept the side to an emphatic victory.

Westhoughton showed some of the form that has been missing from their league performances to beat Astley Bridge by 96 runs. Most of the side contributed to a total of 195 with Adam Pindoria top scoring with 38, but when Bridge batted it was pro Reyad Emrit who did the damage taking 5-37 off 13 overs to help dismiss the home side for 99.

A superb partnership by pro David White and Andy Taylor that produced 72 runs off the last nine overs helped Horwich beat Farnworth SC by four wickets.

Chasing a target of 195 to win, White hit 91 with Taylor remaining unbeaten on 44. Earlier in Circle's total of 194-9, pro Wilden Cornwall hit 50 and Chris Taylor 30.

One match that did go to form was Walkden's 66-run win over Little Lever. Jon Fearick top scored with 48 in Walkden's total of 194, Little Lever pro Mohammad Saddiq taking 4-53.ittle Lever never looked like winning the game after that and were bowled out for 128, Walkden pro Paul Wiseman taking 5-40 and John Smith 3-13.

Another pro to hit a century was Greenmount's Usman Tariq. He hit 106 in his side's 214-8 to overhaul last year's beaten finalists Eagley, who had made 213-7.

Their pro Mike O'Rourke came within a whisker of also making a century, only to be caught out on 98.
