ANY band which covers songs by artists as diverse as the Arctic Monkeys and Andy Williams has to be worth going to see.

Offering such an unusual set list, combined with a lively stage show, has led to Cherrybomb becoming one of the most in-demand covers bands around.

The Darwen-based five-piece Craig Shorrock on vocals, Simon Hopwood on lead guitar, Benn Robinson, rhythm guiate, Pete Meleadey on bass and Gary Jones on drums have been together for almost four years.

"We have always tried to play songs that other people don't," said Benn.

"We play the sort of songs that we would like to hear if we were going to a gig and it seems to go down really well."

Bassist Pete added: "It's rare for us do two gigs the same. We do try to mix things up.

"It's a way of keeping things fresh both for us and for the audience."

"We get to play original material with our other bands," said Benn.

"So Cherrybomb is a chance for us to go out there and have a good time and hopefully let the audience have a good time too."

Ben and Craig play together as Fundada and Pete and Simon are members of Alan Isbad.

"We do work really hard," said Benn. "We like to introduce new songs into the set before anyone else might do."

Putting on a good show is equally important for Cherrybomb.

"We like to leap around a bit," said Benn, "It's all about enjoying yourself."
