PROFITS at Shadsworth-based Interlink Foods will be lower than anticipated' this year, it has been revealed.
The firm has said that promotional activity in April has not been as successful as anticipated and, as a result, profits for the year will be below expectations.
Despite April traditionally being one of its busiest periods, trade during the month will affect profits over the whole year.
However, company directors said they were confident in the future of the firm, and were working on ways to increase future earnings.
This year Interlink, one of the largest cake manufacturers in the UK, has increased its manufacturing capability in Blackburn, and is also set to open a new factory for its Soreen business.
These changes are expected to provide the company with a solid base for future growth.
And year on year sales growth is expected to be in the region of 34per cent, with growth in pre-tax profits about 25per cent.
Results for the year will be announced on July 11, and the company expects them to represent a record year for turnover, profits and earnings per share.
