Hundred Reasons, 65 Days Of Static, Keiko @ Academy 3, Manchester

The venue may have been small but the expectations were high as fans lucky enough to get a ticket welcomed Hundred Reasons by singing along to all the songs both old and new.

First up, though, Keiko - a three-piece from that rock'n'roll capital, Redditch - quickly built up a rapport with the sizeable early crowd with their brand of alternative rock infused with funky basslines.

Sheffield's 65 Days Of Static failed to live up to their hype, however. Their jerky movements and live drummer brought the electronic sampler-led, instrumental rock to life, but it all seemed a bit too posed.

After a lengthy changeover while 65DOS's gizmos were removed, headliners Hundred Reasons kicked off their high-energy set.

Within moments, the previously stationary crowd sprang to life and morphed into a moshpit and a handful of fans even managed to join their heroes on stage for the briefest of moments before diving back into the crowd.

The Surrey rockers are currently promoting their third album Kill Your Own, out on the V2 label, a long-awaited return after being dumped by Sony back in 2004.

That strife kept them out of the public eye for a long while, so it must have been a relief for them to see a full house, a cracking atmosphere and for their new tracks to be received just as feverishly as the long-running crowd favourites.

While it was good to see most of the crowd turn out early for the support bands, the night belonged to the rampant, resurgent Hundred Reasons.
