PENSIONERS in Lancashire should get free travel throughout the county across district council boundaries, transport ministers have been told.
Chorley MP Lindsay Hoyle took the issue up during Question Time in the House of Commons.
He told Public Transport Minister Stephen Ladyman that at the moment there were no agreements between districts in Lancashire to allow pensioners to roam free through the county following the government's cash for a new concessionary fare scheme for the elderly.
Dr Ladyman replied that the government had made a "substantial amount of money available for free travel for pensioners."
He added: "Other counties have been able to reach agreement that have allowed cross county travel to be provided.
"I hope that, even at this stage, Lancashire will try to find a way forward."
