THE former landlord of a Blackburn pub has appeared in court charged with allowing the premises to be used for the supply or attempted supply of class A drugs.

Steven Mark Hanson, 44, former licensee of the Brownhill Arms is also charged with allowing the pub to be used for the smoking of cannabis.

Hanson, of Pleckgate Road, was directed to Preston Crown Court as was Paul John Scott, 39, of Cabin End Road, Knuzden, who was charged with possessing cocaine with intent to supply, supplying cocaine to Ian Mitchell and Derek Roberts and possessing cannabis.

Mitchell, 44, of Billington Gardens, pleaded guilty to possessing 166 milligrams of cocaine. He was fined £400 with £100 costs. Roberts, 44, of Billington Gardens, Billington, pleaded guilty to possessing 570 milligrams of cocaine. He was fined £500 with £100 costs. They were arrested during a police raid on the Brownhill Arms.

Jonathan Taylor, defending, said Mitchell and Roberts both accepted they were occasional users of cocaine.
