LYNN Hindle has every reason to feel on top of the world!

The 36-year-old has just returned from her first World Transplant Games with two gold medals and a silver.

Lynn, a secretary at Blackburn Town Hall, won gold in the 400m and 1500m events and picked up a silver in the mini marathon in Ontario, Canada.

She also finished fourth in the 200m but had to pull out of the 800m due to injury.

The former St Mary's College student is delighted with her medal haul and is now targetting more success in the British Transplant Games next month.

It was in last year's national finals that Lynn sprung to prominence when she won two gold medals, a silver and bronze.

But despite that success -- she won gold in the 400m and 800m -- she was still shocked at her results in Canada.

"I still can't believe it," said Lynn, who lives in the Redlam area of Blackburn. "Going to the Games was a fantastic occasion in itself but coming back with three medals is unbelievable.

"The unfortunate thing is that the Games do not get that much publicity which is a shame because it would be great to help raise awareness of the importance of carrying a transplant card."

Lynn is now in training for the British Transplant Games and also the Great North Run.

Lynn was diagnosed with chronic pylonephritis, a recurring water infection, when she was 21-years-old and underwent a life-saving kidney transplant operation in 2002.

But having always been fit and active -- she plays netball for JS Construction -- Lynn made a remarkably quick recovery.

She went to the British Transplant Games last year just for the experience but only after being encouraged to take part by a nurse she met while recuperating from her operation.

However, while winning medals has been a bonus, Lynn's ultimate aim is to promote the hard work done by the National Kidney Research Fund and UK Transplant.

Lynn is raising funds for the National Kidney Research Fund when she competes in the Great North Run.

She said: "The work they do is vital for people like me. That is why it is important to raise its profile and promote the importance of carrying a donor card."
