BURNLEY roll out the FA Cup barrel against Walsall at Turf Moor tonight.

But manager Jimmy Mullen still has several injury worries before he names the Clarets line-up for the tough first round tie.

And of most concern to the Burnley chief are his options in midfield. Burnley are already without the cup tied Paul McDonald, the suspended Warren Joyce and Derek Adams, injured in the second team on Wednesday.

It means a place in the Burnley squad for youngsters Paul Smith and John Borland.

They both impressed in Wednesday's 2-2 Pontins League draw with Manchester City at Turf Moor and Mullen has rewarded them with a call-up. There was speculation that there could be a return to action for forgotten man Adrian Heath.

Inchy staked a claim for at least a place on the substitutes bench with a goal and a sizzling display against one of his former clubs, but the experienced attacker now appears unlikely to be named in the cup squad.

"We face an extremely tough tie tonight and we have a point to prove after the disappointment against Chester," said Burnley boss Jimmy Mullen.

"Walsall were very difficult opposition in the league match at Burnley (1-1) and we will have to be patient to break them down.

"It has the makings of a very good cup tie. But I will have to wait on a couple of late fitness tests before I decide on my team. It looks a lot more promising on the injury front than it did a couple of days ago."

Both Gerry Harrison and Chris Vinnicombe, major doubts yesterday, are expected to be fit.

Winger Ted McMinn is also up and running again following an injury to his toe which forced him out at half-time against Notts County last weekend.

However, there is still a doubt hanging over midfielder playmaker Adrian Randall, who strained a hamstring on Tuesday. Walsall warmed up for tonight's first round encounter with a thumping 5-0 Auto Winscreens Shield victory over Wycombe Wanderers.

Bermudan striker Kyle Lightbourne netted four times in the tie and Mullen was quick to target the threat from the Walsall striker.

"He is very good striker and he will be one of the biggest dangers to us," added Mullen..

Burnley will choose from: Beresford, Parkinson, Vinnicombe, Winstanley, Swan, Hoyland, Harrison, Randall, Eyres, Nogan, Robinson, Cooke, Francis, McMinn, Smith, Borland, Heath.

Walsall's squiad is: Walker, Ntamark, Rogers, Roper, Marsh, Watkiss, O'Connor, Bradley, Butler, Wilson, Houghton, Smith, Keister, Lightbourne, Viveash

Walsall's new signing Derek Mountfield will not be eligible for tonight's tie after signing for the Saddlers in midweek.

If tonight's tie ends in a draw the replay will be at the Bescot stadium on Wednesday, November 22.

Walsall and Burnley have met just once in the FA Cup. Burnley were beaten by then non-league Walsall 1-0 on January 25, 1902.

The Clarets B team entertain Liverpool at Gawthorpe tomorrow morning. The A team travel to Bury.
