CORONATION Street's Betty Driver knows a thing or two about Lancashire hotpots .

Years behind the bar at the Rovers Return taught her that!

And although Betty, known to millions as Betty Turpin, left the Rovers after Jack and Vera took over, she's still cooking up the goods.

Betty has joined forces with Baxenden-based Holland's Pies to launch a new range of hotpots.

Now East Lancashire folk will be able to get a taste of the dish that has long been the favourite bar meal of Rover's Return regulars.

Between them Holland's Pies and Betty have more than150 years' experience - Holland's have been making their pies since 1851 and Betty has been cooking her hotpots for as long as many Street fans can remember.

Said Betty "Betty Turpin's hotpots have become something of an institution at the Rover's and she's very proud of her reputation for good, wholesome food.

"I think it is a lovely idea that people will be able to buy them in supermarkets now."

And Holland's marketing manager Dilys Day is delighted with the new range.

She said: "We are all very excited about Betty's Kitchen products.

"Holland's is a strong northern brand, with mass market appeal and wholesome, honest values - the same can be said for The Street."

The new range - called Betty's Kitchen - includes vegetable hotpots; lamb hotpots and beef-in-ale pies.

Some of the range will, however, be out of range for Betty's tastes.
