I READ about North British Housing Association being congratulated on their home building achievements in Blackburn (LET, November 14).

In Brookhouse (where else?), they built 23 homes subsidised by Blackburn City Challenge to the tune of £32,000 per house. They are to build 13 more in the same area, subsidised again - this time £35,000 per house.

Since the Blackburn City Challenge is funded by the taxpayer, and since most of the rents in that area will be paid by the DSS, I find it totally unacceptable that we should pay for the houses to be built, and then pay the rent on them too!
